Oh my. It looks like Japan is beginning to sink, allowing the "reclaimed" areas to be given over to severe liquifaction. Japan has created land by pouring rubble and soil on top of shallow coastal areas. If the underlying sediment and rock sink, the "amendments" turn into a "slushie". Further earthquakes could easily topple all of the improvements: neighborhoods, buildings, roads, etc...
